Holiday Cider with Essential Oils

During the holiday season, it seems like our favorite hot drinks taste even better, especially when shared with friends around a cozy fire, or while driving around looking at beautiful holiday lights.  Even that nice cup of coffee in the morning tastes even better on cold winter mornings!

We found this recipe from the Young Living Blog (posted around Halloween), but think it would be a perfect treat to prepare at your next get-together this holiday season as well!  Serve it warm, and add 1-2 cinnamon sticks to your cup before you enjoy.

Ingredients:

  • 2 quarts fresh apple cider
  • 1 orange, peeled and cut into slices
  • 3 drops Lemon Essential Oil
  • 1 drop Cinnamon Bark Essential Oil
  • 1 drop Clove Essential Oil
  • 1 drop Nutmeg Essential Oil
  • Cinnamon sticks, for serving

Combine the apple cider, orange slices, and essential oils in a large pot, and simmer over low heat for a minimum of 10 minutes.  Remove the oranges before serving.

If you have someone on your holiday list this year who loves essential oils, pick up the mug above for them here.  It makes a great gift and will be enjoyed year-round!

Please make sure to read the labels on your essential oils and make sure they are safe for ingesting before using them in your recipes!
